Room 3 Assembly

Our class leaders did a fantastic job of running the school assembly without the help of the Year 6 children.  I am very proud of them.  They all spoke clearly and confidently.

Week 5

wWeek 4 Highlights v   What a fantastic week we had last week!  Our Art Deco tour and the school picnic were highlights for most of us.  Assembly went well too. Class Activities *     This week begins with a formal assessment of reading.  It’s called the STAR test and will assess children’s understanding at word level, sentence level, paragraph level and vocabulary.   *    We will also have a PAT Listening test this week. *    We will be practicing for the Aquathlon on Wednesday 1 March. *    On Friday we will join our buddy class for a technology challenge. Parent Notes I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday or Wednesday evening to catch up individually about how your child is settling in to the new year and class.  If you haven't made a booking yet, please do.  On Tuesday we have 3 new Student Teachers starting at our school from EIT.  I will be out of the classroom helping them settle into our wonderful school.

Art Deco Tour of Napier

Mr Chittenden showed us around some of the Art Deco buildings in Napier, imparting his vast knowledge of this history.  Parents, teachers and children thoroughly enjoyed this time and learnt such a lot.  We were privileged to be guided by Mr Chittenden.  Here we are, looking absolutely stunning in our Art Deco gear.

Week 4

Every week seems to be a busy one but this one is even more so for Room 3!  

1.  We have our much awaited trip to Napier for an Art Deco tour on Tuesday.  Please check your child's bag for a note regarding the final details for this.  Wear Art Deco clothes as you did last Friday.  Children looked stunning and so authentic!  Thank you for your efforts.
                                           


2.  On Thursday it is our turn to deliver Assembly.  Two children wil be chosen for this and we will be presenting some of our work.  Come at 9am if you can.                                                                           

3.  The school picnic is on Friday.  Details to come soon.                                                                                  

This week we plan to complete our Pepeha, continue researching Art Deco and the HB Earthquake, complete our Statistical Investigation (Data collection, Graphing and Analysis of a topic about room 3 children), begin our Writer's Notebooks and of course PLAY!

AQUATHLON                           
There seems to be some confusion about whether Room 3 will take part in the Senior School Triathlon or the Junior School Aquathlon.  We are participating in the Aquathlon only.  There will be a note about this soon.  It would pay to check Room 3s blog regularly and look on the right-hand column of upcoming dates.  If it is not on there it would be safe to assume it is not our event.

Art Deco Dressup Day

Room 3 looked spiffing today as they got into the spirit of Art Deco celebrations.  We are looking forward to dressing up again next week for our tour of some Napier Art Deco iconic buildings.

Weetbix Triathlon

Seven children represented Room 3 in the Weetbix triathlon yesterday.  We are very proud of their achievements in their first event of this type.  Well done everyone!

1931 Hawkes Bay Earthquake
